Background Information

1 Who owns the TRAC Connect chassis?

The chassis are owned by TRAC Intermodal or its affiliated companies.

2 What is the difference between a neutral pool chassis and TRAC Connect chassis?

There is no difference in the actual chassis provided. However, for TRAC Connect, the policies and rules cater to the individual user of the chassis.

3 What products and services does TRAC Intermodal offer?

TRAC Intermodal offers an array of products and services related to intermodal chassis. These products and services include:

Purchase Financing - Our DFL product provides financing to those customers interested in financing the purchase of a chassis over a fixed term. This product provides competitive interest rates by holding the chassis as collateral over the life of the loan, similar in concept to a car or home loan.
Lease - Our triple net lease product provides leased chassis for customers who prefer to operate and maintain their own equipment. The customer pays the lease amount, insurance, taxes and maintenance over a fixed length of time ¿ usually between one and seven years.
Cooperative Pool - Our cooperative pool product allows various customers to pool their chassis to gain collective efficiencies. TRAC Intermodal provides equipment balancing, M&R management and supporting technology in exchange for a pool management fee.
Neutral Pool - TRAC Intermodal is the leading operator of neutral chassis pools at marine terminals and railroads, where TRAC offers chassis and provides all maintenance and logistics (demand/supply/repositioning) services. This product is offered on a subscription basis and is ideal for customers that demand ultimate flexibility in chassis needs, but do not possess the administrative infrastructure to manage and maintain chassis.
TRAC Connect - TRAC Intermodal has recently created TRAC Connect - a new product whose purpose is to provide chassis on a short and midterm basis to customers who manage the inland ISO container supply chain, such as motor carriers, NVOs and freight forwarders. TRAC Connect provides flexibility, ease of use and pooling efficiencies without the overhead required for purchasing and maintenance.

4 Who is TRAC Intermodal?

TRAC Intermodal (aka "TRAC") is the leading chassis solutions provider in the intermodal industry, providing a diverse portfolio of products and services to ocean carriers, railroads, motor carriers and other transportation companies. 4 Can I use the same chassis for a carrier haulage move and a merchant haulage move during the same day? Can I use it for multiple moves involving multiple lines?

Yes, in both cases.

Getting a Chassis

1 Do I have to return chassis to the same locations from which the chassis were obtained?

Not necessarily. Please refer to the TRAC Connect website for the most up to date information and announcements about available start / stop locations.

2 When do I need a booking number to out-gate chassis?

See the Chassis Booking Numbers section of the Terms and Conditions.

3 Where are chassis available?

Valid pick up (start) locations are posted on the TRAC Connect website. Because of such supply variables as ship bunching, train schedules and street dwell times, we cannot guarantee availability of chassis. Please be sure to check web announcements and call the TRAC Connect customer service team with any questions.

Getting Started

1 How long does it take TRAC Intermodal to process my company's insurance certificate and other necessary registration materials?

Typically, account set up is completed within 1-2 business days.

2 Do I have to sign a separate interchange agreement for each new location TRAC Intermodal adds to its network?

3 If I have an effective UIIA agreement, is this sufficient to obtain a TRAC Intermodal chassis?

No. Customers must complete the registration process and agree to the TRAC Connect interchange agreement.

4 What are the details of TRAC Intermodal's insurance requirements?

5 What is required to become a registered customer?

6 What are the benefits to registering as a customer on the TRAC Connect website?

Only those companies that have registered will be authorized to lease chassis via the TRAC Connect product.
